District Trust Packet
MeritBoard turns student work into verified proof — a standardized, teacher-certified record of what your students can actually do. Here is everything your district needs to review and approve it — how the work is verified, privacy, and governance — in one place you can forward.
At a glance
AI-assisted, teacher-certified
AI does a first-pass assessment; a teacher reviews and must Confirm & Publish every result. Nothing goes public automatically.
Multi-model judging panel
A panel judges: OpenAI GPT-4o (primary), Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.6 (second judge), and Google Gemini 2.0 Flash (tiebreaker only).
Student work never trains AI
Submissions are sent to AI providers only to judge that contest. Neither we nor they use the data to train models.
FERPA & COPPA aligned
We operate as a "school official" under FERPA, with parental-consent flows for younger students. We do not sell data.
Data minimized & deletable
Public pages show a first name and last initial (or a screen name). Teachers can delete any data anytime; deletion within 30 days.
We sign your DPA
We execute your district’s Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) or a standard SDPC/NDPA exhibit on request.
The documents
Each lives online at a stable URL you can forward to IT, leadership, or legal.
AI Policy Kit
Ready-to-adapt templates: a classroom AI-use policy, a procurement/vendor clause, a data-usage statement, and a parent-notification letter.
OpenHow Judging Works
The step-by-step process (AI scores → teacher reviews → teacher certifies), the per-contest rubrics, and our data & AI commitments.
OpenFamily & Teacher FAQ
Plain answers for teachers and families: how AI judging works, overriding results, pricing, privacy, and parental permission.
OpenPrivacy & Data Processing
The full policy: data collected, AI processing, sub-processors, retention, security, FERPA/COPPA, and a DPA contact.
OpenWho processes the data
Full list and links to each provider’s policy in the Privacy Policy, §5.
Compliance & certifications
MeritBoard aligns with FERPA (as a "school official"), COPPA, and SOPIPA, with data minimization and teacher certification of every result. We are in the process of earning:
- SDPC National Data Privacy Agreement (in progress)
- Common Sense Privacy rating (in progress)
- 1EdTech TrustEd Apps, incl. GenAI self-assessment (in progress)
